2009 SALES FIGURES

Home and lot sales for 2009 in Discovery Harbour totaled 41.
Sixteen homes were sold ranging from $155,000 to $361,000.
Twenty-five lots sold from $25,000 to $100,100.
These figures do not include the golf course sale of $1,100,000.
The number of plans submitted for approval was six.
As always we are looking for members to volunteer one half hour on the first Saturday of each month to review plans submitted and to address issues within buildings under construction, grading of lots, etc.

The Architectural/Environmental Committee is made up of members from our Community. In the past few years it has been mostly Board members with little other representation from the Community. Its job is to insure that the Declaration of Covenants are followed. It is not here to settle petty neighbor disputes.
A new issue has been brought to the attention of the Committee, View Protection.
According to the CC&R’s Chapter II Section 18:
"View Protection It is the intent of this Declaration to protect the view of each Lot Owner. The location of every dwelling and other structure on each Lot shall be subject to the prior approval of the Committee, so as to protect as much as reasonably possible the view from each Lot."
A view to one person may be completely different to another, some look at the ocean, others at the beautiful hills and other may like to live in a forest like setting. This section does not speak specifically of landscape plantings that may grow and block someone's view. We should use good judgment when we landscape and think of our neighbors. My wife seems to have two green thumbs, when she plants dwarf trees and they grow to be giants. Look around and be aware of your surroundings; if you have planted something that has gotten out of control, prune it. Talk to your neighbor, for the good of friendship it may be necessary to remove a plant.
We cannot help but notice the improvement of the view that the mowing on the golf course has accomplished.
The new Board will soon step up to the plate and volunteer for this Committee and be part of this Community. You can only get out of a Community what you are willing to put into it.
